Windows has a recent zero-day vulnerability. This exploit allows attackers to establish a backdoor and run code in kernel mode. This is a serious threat as it can allow full control over the machine. There is good news though, Microsoft has released a patch for this vulnerability.
Zero-day exploits are series because the system or device has a vulnerability that is currently not yet patched. These types of exploits offer a high chance of success if executed quickly which is why it’s imperative to patch these as soon as possible.
For more details on this exploit, Tara Seals over at Threatpost does a great job of covering it. I implore you to head over and read her article. It’s well written and covers this in more detail for those wishing for more of an in-depth read.
